Meeting with the group!

TENSION IS IN THE AIR!

First the distant group members decided to tell me that its not their fault that they were sick, and one of them said that they almost ended up in hospital. I took it like a lady and breathed and kept my head down. They spoke up and said " What are we meant to do today" I couldn't help myself I just said well Michael and I have done almost everything all we need to do is to do the presentation. We all agreed that the presentation is going to be showed instead of an oral presentation next week in the tutorial.

Michael has been really helpful with all the issues and group complications. I am really grateful to have him in my group. Without him I would most probably be lost and just leave the group.

We took one screencast. again I did the PowerPoint and took the cast on my computer. I just feel that no one cares about marks and University.... Anyway we are meeting for one final time before the actual thing is due. I plan to get it over and done with as quickly as possible. So then I can upload it. On the script that we wrote out I don't think that it is fair. Really Michael and I did everything. And if they aren't going to be honest at least my tudor knows what has gone on and what has happened as the outcome.

Interesting Resources!

So throughout this assignment I had to find some interesting resources:

• Australian Curriculum- our task for the students comes from the year 6 area:

Kidszone- This website was good to refer to for us to adjust questions and relate students ideas to. We also added it to the students resource page. 

• Google Docs- we also used this to put forward our wikispaces URL. I found it interesting a hard to use. But when I emailed Jenni she was able to assist me.

And the complications keep on going....

I'm feeling a bit left out at the moment! It actually kind of sucks!
I know I haven't been blogging recently however I have been talking to the unit coordinator and my tudor. I have had some issues with the groups members. I still haven't got Kelly's username for the wiki. I understand that she has been sick however if your at home 'sick' you should at least be contactable! I have emailed and texted her so many times and yet she still hasn't made an account. The other group member has made an account however, hasn't actually contributed to the wiki. I am really annoyed at them both because I wish they wouldn't leave me to do the rest of the work, whilst they sit down and relax! :(

So the unit coordinator has been in contact with me because:
a) Our wiki wasn't viewable- So I had to pay $1 to make the wiki viewable. The good thing about that was that Jenni made a screencast to show all of us how to change that. I had to get my dad to pay the amount for us and he wasn't really happy with it.
b) Just asking me how we were doing with our wiki! I took that as my chance to sort of lay out what was going on with my group. I also asked what I should do to fix the problem.

She emailed me back saying that I shouldn't do anything and that she will speak to my tutor. That was great news as she really reassured me that everything will be fine. So I communicated this to Michael and so we left it.
What was good was that Val, got in contact with me and said that she still couldn't access my wiki. It was because of some navigation toolbar on the side of my wiki.

So I emailed everyone saying that this is going to be the finally meeting next Tuesday and if you aren't there then you will not in the on screen presentation. Everyone said that they will be there and o we shall see.....

Well, a group task can be a bit annoying!
I have had a bit of trouble with the people in my group because they are either sick or can't make it. I have made the wikispace .
So I started by communicating to the group when we should meet. Because although we have two break weeks, still doesn't mean that we can't use that to our advantage. I also explained to them in the email that:

• What our task was: So to create an authentic task that will enable students to enhance their learning in the use of technology. The task that we came up with was to get students to create their own mould experiment and create their own blog and oral presentation to be able to show the whole class. (Prior to this we had also discussed this to group members that were there in the workshop- all I was doing was re-capping and for those who weren't there explaining to them what Michael and I did...)
• I also explained to the group members that they had to join the wiki. Therefore they had to create an account. This meant joining up for free and emailing me back with a username so that I could add you. i have to say that I'm disappointed in some of my group members as they haven't got back to me. So I kindly email Michael explaining that they haven't got an account yet and he said to let them come to us.....which I thought was true! WHY SHOULD I RUN AROUND AFTER THEM WHEN THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO HELP ME!!!
• I also explained to them what their roles were. For example what type of bread and type of conditions they were doing. I also asked then to kindly take a photo of their bread almost every day so they would have something to share with the group. I also divided up the roles. So my job was the lesson plans and Michael's was the teacher resources. I asked Kelly to do the Curriculum, so how does our task relate to the current curriculum.  I asked Lisa to take care of the student resources. 
• Finally, I asked them what days that we could meet up to discuss our group task and work on it as a group: I said that we might as well not change the time or the venue and go to the same place     at the same time next week.

I thought I was being completely nice about it. I was not being pushy or annoying I thought the way that I handled the email was reasonable and easy to follow.

Assignment 3

So, again I'm here doing my blog for the final task in EDN113. Getting here makes me understand what I have learnt.

Well, well Task 3 is a group task, so I'm quite enjoying. currently we are on break week. Prior for that in the tutorial we discussed what our wiki is going to be about and what we should do within the week. Unfortunately, one of my group members didn't attend the workshop, so I did up an email for her and emailed the exact same thing to everyone. In that email it included individual tasks for everyone. that is to be done when we meet up the next time. Because the week after break week is external for this unit, we decided to meet up any way. So meeting times and where-about information was clearly stated quite a few times.

The good thing is that our groups are the same as the previous task. I think it was good because we all got along and did our work. We are also interested in the same sort of subjects so we chose science in the long run. We jumped onto the Australian Curriculum and went to the Science tab. We chose to do the Year 6 area.

Embedding my video

Wow! What a lot of research it took me! I finally got my screencast done, however I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it took me ages to embed my video. Fortunately I joined the Zoho forums. Some people are just musicians. It was great that people can help you in such a matter of time. Finally  what I had to do was to upload my screencast on Youtube, then from there I had a code that could put in on my website. I am stoked that it worked.

So I have done some research...
I went online to look at the learning module for this assignment. It talks about we have to do. What I did is download Endnote.

Also I had to download screen-o-matic. This is very fun to play around with! Yes that the child coming out in me! 

Part 1 Assignnment 2

So, first assignment is down and second one is under way. I’m finding that with this assignment is complicated to an extent. Of course I have read the assignment in whole, in the unit guide however, I think I need to look at some samples to fully see what is required.

What I understand is, that this assignment requires independent and logical collaboration with three other people that all research the same subject. However all of that is great but what and when do we make our groups, what do we do together as a group. I have visited many of the discussions on the forum. I'm amazed at the externals because I will not have the will power to actually study externally.

Welcome to my blog! Getting to this page was STRESS-FULL! I'm a bit of stress pot. I guess this course is going to be good for me to learn how technology works. In the first lecture I was so confused, even after the tutorial I still didn't really understand the whole concept of exploring the web and finding out what social pages to use.
